An unusual and lesser known member of the citrus family, yuzu is native to Japan and has been an important part of Japanese culinary and cultural traditions for centuries. The fruit resembles an orange, but has a much rougher peel, making it quite resistant to cold. In Japan it is a common tradition to take a hot bath with halved yuzu on the date of the winter solstice to ward off winter ailments, depression, colds and the flu. The sweet, slightly orangey, and uniquely floral scent helps promote feelings of well being - very important in the cold, dark months of winter. We’ve blended the smell of yuzu with ginger essential oil, another commonly used aromatic in Japanese culture. Ginger is known to ease nausea, soothe aching muscles, and relieve congestion. Its warming sensation will envelop you and, together with yuzu, lift your spirits during the long winter. With our handcrafted Yuzu Ginger soap you’d never know you weren’t bathing at a hot spring in the snowy mountains of Japan.
